I order a shot, and stare at it for a long while. The lights around are dancing inside the liquid. Blasters... they reming me of blasters, zapping by. And cannons, sometimes blasting my shields. I smile, but only for a short while. I sigh, and look to the right, through the nearest window. The endless void is there, calling me. Countless stars and two asteroids there, the closer one of them being cooked by a miner on a behemoth at full-power. I see the mixed color beams glow. A minute later it stops... presumably in the middle of the sluggish return to the station. I used to clean my sidearms during such trips. They're somewhere in my bedroom now, gathering dust. I feel like going back there, find one of them, and drill holes around the room... just to see if I still know how to do it.

A fighter flashes by, snapping me out of my deaydream. I stare back at the shot in front of me. It is still, no dancing blasters. I gulp it down, and push it at the barkeeper. Another one down as if it were water. Water... purified water... I traded it a few times with the less busy stations. One of them, a mining outpost, was once so critical on water supply that as soon as I warped into the system, a dozen of mining vessels escorted me to the station. First time I had a non-military escort, I thought, amused.

I'm still holding my glass, I order one last shot. Skirmishes, cargo trading, venturing into gray space, blasting pirates, wiping hives, running away in a ship that barely can hold together... I miss it all, even the latter. My ship is grounded, locked down in some unknown warehouse around this huge mass of floating metal I'm in. I haven't paid its license ever since I stopped flying. My other ships scattered around other stations, for sure the same fate. I just hope that none got "mysteriously lost"... gray space stations is not exactly a nice place to let a ship for long. It would disappear before it can rust. And my favourite ship, just a few kilometers away, somewhere. Red and silver. What I was doing last? Collecting silksteel? Mining? Hunting at random? Making huge profts from a newly discovered cargo route? I can't remember. Yet I can picture the disappointment in the face of my fellow guild members.

Shortly after joining, I just vanished, like I was blasted out of an airlock. Mulle Barap had me join the guild. I remember the recruitment talk with Interstellar, such a nice guy. Mulle said "this one is good, I can tell you". I felt good, proud, and willing to help, to accomplish great deeds. And now what? Here I am. I feel ashamed. I let them down. I should have never joined, at least I'd be alone with my longing for the space, its wormholes and pirates. Just another pilot sucked back to ground life.

Then I think of my recent activities... studying, working as a regular wimp too afraid to pull the trigger. Ever since more of a family man, and it didn't even start to grow in numbers yet. Plans to move residence to another station, where we can live a better life, my girl and I. I hope my travel to our new home isn't my next space walk, as I dearly hope I can go back to it before then. But first, I have things to settle.

It's not a bad life, but I miss the adventurous one, full of excitement. I want it too, and no reason to neglect any of them. I don't want to be a wanderer with no place to call home, and I don't want a home to call my kingdom and never ever go over the hill and find out what lies there.

My name is Robert Kane, and I am interested in joining your Alliance.
I have been playing Vendetta Online for about 10 or so months.
My screen name is Tomcatguy74 and my Character name in Vendetta is Xavier Nostromo.
I am looking to advance myself in the game faster than I have been. I have been mining and killing drones and trading but cannot get my licenses up fast enough to do anything of great value. I play Vendetta on my home computer where I am able to fly combat missions to kill drones. I also play on my Droid X2 phone and Xoom Tablet where I am slowly learning how to fly combat missions but mainly trade and mine on those devices.
I use a joystick on the computer for combat which to me is easy but on the tablet its a little more challenging with the touch controls.
As far as playing online I will try to be on at least 1 or 2 times a week minimum. With a full time job (6-3pm), a wife, 2 kids, and a house to take care of its difficult to get online everyday.

What you like to do in game or want to do: My primary focus is to hone my piloting skills, such that I can be more effective in unplanned php encounters, especially since pvp is such a significant portion of the game. Mining, trading, and doing missions on the side has also been good, so I'll continue learning there. As a sort of side activity in addition to playing, I like to run recording software in the background, so that if anything interesting happens, then I can post the experience through youtube. I'd seen the Pheonix Alliance guild info back when I was first looking at the guild list, but I was unsure about joining a grey space guild. However, now that I have developed greater familiarity with grey space, and learned more about the guild from Solra, I believe that [PA] is a good place for me because I enjoy working with loose collaborations that the community appears to be about.

Do not hesitate to defend yourselves and expect ganking and swarm-running tactics.
